After the game, Philadelphia head coach Eddie Gottlieb lodged a protest with the league over a perceived officiating slight on a long inbounds pass to Bob Faught that resulted in a bucket.
Gottlieb claimed that, with time out, Riebe had taken the ball out of bounds himself and threw it in to Faught without getting a referee to handle it in between
